
The Center for the Future of Arizona works in collaboration with the following groups to achieve our shared goals:
All A’s for Arizona, an initiative of the Rodel Charitable Foundation of Arizona
All A’s for Arizona brings together the state’s education community to share resources and information about activities related to identified priorities for action. These include providing all students with an opportunity to succeed in K-12 education. CFA Executive Director Sybil Francis serves as the center’s representative in All A’s.
Arizona Business & Education Coalition (ABEC)
ABEC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit providing a balanced forum for business and education leaders to collaborate and improve K-12 education policy. CFA Executive Director Sybil Francis participates on its board and in its initiatives to increase public awareness about the relationship between Arizona’s future workforce and the quality of the K-12 system, and to actively and effectively influence education policy.
Arizona P-20 Council
The Arizona P-20 Council focuses upon aligning the state’s education curriculum to the needs of 21st century employers and employees. It achieves this by identifying and providing recommended solutions to gaps in Arizona’s education systems. Founded by executive order of Governor Janet Napolitano, it includes business leaders, policy makers and educators. CFA Executive Director Sybil Francis serves on the P-20 Council and chairs its Data and Graduation Committee.
Arizona Skill Standards Commission
The commission oversees the development of industry-validated certification or documentation of student skill attainment in 71 specific
career fields. The effort is a joint project of the Arizona Department of Education and Arizona State University. Dr. Sybil Francis represents
the center on the commission.
Arizona State University
The Center for the Future of Arizona has substantive ties with ASU, engaging elements of the university that correspond with center priorities. Arizona State University is creating a new model for American higher education. This New American University is a single, unified institution comprising four differentiated campuses positively impacting the economic, social, cultural and environmental health of the communities it serves. ASU serves more than 64,000 students in metropolitan Phoenix, the nation's fifth largest city.
Expect More Arizona is a public-private partnership dedicated to increasing public awareness about the importance of strengthening education in our state. The partnership is working to create a movement of Arizonans who value education as the top priority in our state and are actively engaged in strengthening the entire continuum – from birth to career. Expect More Arizona officially launched in late April 2009.
Greater Phoenix Leadership (GPL)
GPL is a nonprofit organization comprised of presidents, CEOs and managing partners of corporations throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area. It provides the executive forum through which corporate leadership can effectively and efficiently collaborate with the public sector and nonprofit organizations to establish and sustain a safe, healthy and prosperous community. CFA Chairman and CEO Lattie Coor serves on its board and collaborates with GPL in realizing The Vision for the Future of Arizona.
