CFA's Role

The Center for the Future of Arizona partners with schools, the State of Arizona, and the National Center on Education and the Economy to facilitate system-wide transformation of Arizona's educational system through the Move On When Ready initiative.

The Arizona State Board of Education selected the Center for the Future of Arizona to work directly with all Arizona schools interested in implementing Move On When Ready on their campuses. Among other duties, the Center for the Future of Arizona will work through 2015 on a no-fee basis to provide technical support and general supervision over the aligned instructional system that is a component of the Grand Canyon Diploma.

The Center for the Future of Arizona was instrumental in bringing the Move On When Ready concept to Arizona and building support for it. Arizona leads the nation in pioneering this innovative model of high school education. It is the first and only state to have enacted legislation enabling school to offer a performance-based diploma - the Grand Canyon Diploma.  Arizona has by far the greatest number of students and schools committed to a performance-based model of education than any other state.

The Arizona Move On When Ready Initiative is part of the National Center on Education and the Economy's Excellence For All effort.  Other partner states include Connecticut, Kentucky, and Mississippi.

The Center for the Future of Arizona is Arizona’s liaison with the National Center on Education and the Economy.
