To ensure Move On When Ready is implemented as intended, the Arizona State Board of Education in late 2010 selected the Center for the Future of Arizona to provide general supervision and administration of the initiative through 2015. CFA is the primary point of contact for schools wishing to offer the Grand Canyon High School Diploma and its related board examination systems, which include Cambridge International Examinations and ACT QualityCore.
Schools may adopt approved board examination systems on their campuses as early as fall 2011. Schools that implement board examination systems but do not offer the Grand Canyon Diploma are not Move On When Ready schools. They are not required by the state of Arizona to follow the steps outlined below.
How to Become a Move On When Ready School
1. Submit a letter of intent to the Center for the Future of Arizona, indicating the school's or district's interest in implementing an approved board examination system and offering the Grand Canyon High School Diploma. Mail it to:
Amanda Burke
Director, Education Strategy and Innovation
Center for the Future of Arizona
541 E. Van Buren, Ste. B-5
Phoenix, AZ 85004
2. Submit an implementation plan to CFA. It must include at least the following elements:
| • | The name of the approved board examination system the school or district wishes to implement |
| • | A proposed timeline for its implementation |
| • | A description of the funding model that will be employed to ensure the sustainability of the approved board examination system offering |
| • | A proposed communication plan for students and parents that provides: -an overview of the selected, approved board examination system -potential course offerings -a description of student support systems -contact information for students and parents to obtain more detailed information regarding board examination systems and the Grand Canyon High School Diploma |
3. Upon receipt of the implementation plan, CFA will work cooperatively with the school district or charter school to ensure that the plan is feasible. The school or district will work with CFA to modify any elements of the plan, as needed, for successful implementation of the approved board examination system.
