
CÁRDENAS, McGREGOR AND POST NAMED TO
CENTER FOR THE FUTURE OF ARIZONA BOARD OF DIRECTORS
PHOENIX (March 8, 2010) – The Center for the Future of Arizona has announced José Cárdenas, Ruth McGregor and Bill Post have joined its board of directors.
Cárdenas is senior vice president and general counsel of Arizona State University. He also serves as chairman of the board of the Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen), and is a board member of Chicanos Por La Causa and Xicanindio Artes, Inc. Previously, he was chairman of the law firm of Lewis and Roca LLP. He has been appointed to various committees, commissions, task forces and boards by the Board of Regents, the Arizona Supreme Court, the Arizona State Bar and Governors Mofford, Symington, Hull and Napolitano, including his current service as a member of the Commerce and Economic Development Commission.
McGregor served for 11 years on the Arizona Supreme Court and was its Chief Justice from June 2005 until her retirement in June 2009. Justice McGregor has participated extensively in professional activities, particularly those involving legal education and the discipline of lawyers and judges. Among other activities, she has served as an officer and a member of the board of trustees for the American Inns of Court Foundation, as an officer and board member for the National Association of Women Judges, as a board member of the Conference of Chief Justices, and on the Legal Council of the American Bar Association Section of Legal Education and Admission to the Bar, which is the accrediting body for American law schools.
Post is the former chairman of the board of Arizona Public Service Company, and former chairman of the board and chief executive officer of its parent company, Pinnacle West Capital Corporation. He is chairman of Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Arizona's board of directors, and involved with the ASU Foundation, Greater Phoenix Leadership, the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations, the Nuclear Energy Institute, Thunderbird School of Global Management, and the Translational Genomics Research Institute. In 2007, he was Valley Leadership's Man of the Year.
