Joseph Valdez leads integrated marketing communications strategy and program implementation for CFA.

His background is in marketing communications and public relations with more than 15 years of industry experience that includes 12 years of agency-based brand consulting work developing communications strategies and implementing public relations programs to drive business results for clients. His key strengths are in marketing strategy, strategic planning, project management, media relations, internal/external communications, content development, social channel management and brand communications.

Prior to joining CFA, Valdez was Director of Communications and Community Affairs for the Arizona Commerce Authority, the state’s leading economic development organization. In his consulting work, he served as Chief Strategist for 3M’s Andean Region subsidiary based in Lima, Peru, to develop its e-commerce business strategy throughout a five-country regional territory. Additionally, he worked as a Communications Specialist for Abbott Laboratories, a Chicago-based global healthcare company, to implement process improvements and strategic sourcing programs for Abbott’s branding agency partners in the company’s $20MM branding, creative and digital category.

Valdez earned a Master of Global Management from Thunderbird School of Global Management at Arizona State University. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in corporate communications and public affairs from Southern Methodist University and an associate’s degree in advertising from Northwood University, Texas.

Why do you love Arizona?
Arizona has been good to me. Our communities are wonderful places filled with talented people who have much to contribute. The state has changed and grown tremendously and I am ever-optimistic about the transformative years ahead.
