Professional Development for Educators on School Participatory Budgeting
The Center for the Future of Arizona and ASU Participatory Governance Initiative are offering a professional development opportunity for educators to learn about school participatory budgeting this summer!
School PB is an innovative civic learning program designed to improve student agency, collaboration, and critical-thinking skills while creating pathways and opportunities for young people to be active, informed, and engaged participants in civic life for the long-term. School PB is currently being implemented in many countries and several cities in the United States. In Arizona, School PB is currently implemented in 39 schools in 5 districts, engaging more than 50,000 students annually.
The three-hour workshop is designed for K-12 administrators, support staff, and teachers from all subject areas who are currently implementing or interested in implementing School PB. Participants will:
- Learn methods for implementing School PB with a focus on inclusivity
- Learn from educators who have implemented School PB
- Have the opportunity to join a School PB network in Arizona
All participants will receive a certificate upon completion that can be applied toward their recertification. This workshop is offered at no cost thanks to the generous support of the Arizona Developmental Disabilities Planning Council.
