Making Sense of Arizona's Air Quality

Did you notice or hear about smog during the holidays in Phoenix? That was particulate matter 2.5 (PM 2.5), inhalable particles so fine they’re 30 times smaller than a strand of hair. Smoke from fireworks set off to celebrate the holidays as well as indoor and outdoor fires created the hazy air. PM 2.5 is just one of three critical air quality measures CFA tracks in the Arizona Health and Well-Being Progress Meter. Our latest update dives into the state of our air, covering Ozone, dust or PM 10, and haze or PM 2.5. We explore their impact, including a better understanding of why air quality is essential to public health and the economy.

Catalyzing Change: Personalized Learning Institute Sets a New Standard for Education

Earlier this month, Arizona witnessed a groundbreaking event for education – the Personalized Learning Institute, hosted by the Santa Cruz Valley Unified School District in collaboration with CFA and KnowledgeWorks. Educators and leaders across Arizona and the U.S. dove into the transformative world of personalized competency-based learning, a key ingredient in student-centered education. This event wasn't just a conference; it demonstrated what’s possible for the future of education.
