Arizona Public Transportation: How Are We Doing?

These data measure the quality of public transit by ranking peer communities nationally or statewide with the AllTransit™ performance score.

How is the Quality of Public Transit Measured?
The AllTransit™ Performance Score is a comprehensive score that looks at connectivity, access to land area and jobs, frequency of service, and the percentage of commuters who use transit to travel to work. A higher score is better. The measure reported is the ranking of scores as compared with communities of a similar size.

Why Would Improving Arizona’s Public Transit Matter?
Not all Arizonans have access to their own reliable vehicle. Public transportation allows all Arizonans to travel to school and work, or access health care, regardless of vehicle ownership. Especially during summers in the Arizona desert when heat hinders walkability or cold winters in the mountains — dependable , comfortable, accessible, and high-frequency public transportation guarantees all Arizonans can fully participate in Arizona’s economy.

Arizona public transit data are updated annually and are available for U.S. cities, Arizona counties, metropolitan planning organizations (MPOs), and municipal statistical areas (MSAs).
