Students learn the fundamentals of computer programming, develop critical thinking skills, and practice collaboration as they take on the role of coders to design, develop, and market an app solution to a community need. Each lesson below contains the Facilitator Guide resource provides the details and necessary preparation to enable users to complete the lesson. The .zip file contains the SCORM driver and content to be uploaded into a Learning Management System.

In this lesson, students look at the job descriptions of various roles in the Information Technology field. They will also look at the educational pathways available for building a career in each of these roles. Students will solve a data activity, and then discuss their observations with the class.

In the previous lesson, The World of Coding, students were introduced to the basics of coding. This lesson takes the students through the applications of coding in building an app. The lesson introduces students to various terminologies that are involved in the process of building an app. Students will build a real app during a lab activity in this lesson.

In this lesson, students will look at the various aspects that need to be considered while designing an app. Students learn what a good app should look like through a video. In this lesson, students will learn about how to model their ideas to build an app. The lesson starts with an activity where students learn how modelling their app is related to storytelling. Students then design a storyboard (a rough sketch of sequence of screens) to show what the first few screens of their app would look like, with the example of Pokémon GO as a reference.
