Implementation and Evaluation

SPB Coordinator:

All stakeholders who were involved in the SPB process monitor the implementation of projects, then celebrate and evaluate the process for the next cycle.

Monitor the Implementation of Projects

To implement winning projects by the end of the academic year, SPB Coordinators will work with SPB Sponsors and school and district leaders to submit requisitions and work orders immediately following the election. The SPB Sponsors and steering committee are responsible for submitting a requisition template/form and approved winning project proposal form (from the proposal development phase) to start the purchasing process. The status of the order(s) can then be tracked by the district administrator. Once the order is received on campus, a work order must be submitted to the campus maintenance team for immediate implementation.

Share the Vote Results & Build Momentum

SPB Coordinators might alert local media of vote day activities to garner interest and support from community members around SPB. Use social media to announce winning projects, share voter turnout rates, and celebrate the number of students registered to vote for future elections (if applicable).

  • Announce the winning project at a large assembly or during advisory classes
  • Coordinate a project unveiling ceremony
  • Create posters, videos, and/or social media posts that summarize the main highlights of the SPB process

Celebrate & Evaluate

In this final step, everyone involved reflects on the main accomplishments and main challenges to the process. Participants provide feedback that will determine the outcome of key planning questions and shape the process for the next SPB cycle.

Tips for Project Implementation & Evaluation:

  • Be proactive when sharing instructions for submitting requisitions to make it an easier turnaround time for SPB Sponsors and steering committee.
  • Provide consistent updates regarding project requisition and implementation to help with student momentum.
  • Take the time to ask the student steering committee and SPB Sponsors what could be done differently to ensure continuous improvement of the process.
