SPB Student

Student leadership is central to School Participatory Budgeting. Students not only lead the process through their role on the Steering Committee, but also in advocating to pilot and sustain SPB at their school.

Hear from our SPB Sponsors about their experience:

The SPB Student Advocacy Toolkit was created by students, for students. These resources may be used by students who are interested in bringing the School Participatory Budgeting (SPB) initiative to their school. Here is an overview of each of the resources in the toolkit:

  • SPB Student Flyer
This flyer provides an overview of SPB that can easily be shared with other students interested in leading SPB.
  • SPB Stakeholder Email Template
This template provides language and guidance for students reaching out to their principal and other key stakeholders to explore bringing SPB to their school.
  • SPB Stakeholder Presentation
This presentation is a customizable Power Point Presentation that you can share with key stakeholders at your school to introduce SPB, why it is important to your school, and why you want to lead this process at your school.
  • Guide for SPB Stakeholder Presentation
This guide will walk you through every slide in the SPB Stakeholder Presentation and explain how you may customize the presentation for your unique school, audience, and presentation details.
  • SPB Example Funding Sources
This resource highlights examples of how other schools have identified and allocated budgets to support their SPB process. It can be shared with school leaders to help identify potential areas where your school could allocate funding.
